If you smoke a pack a day, the new tax will increase the amount you spend per year on cigarettes by $936. And the state might not even make money on it because how do they know that people won’t buy their cigarettes in Nevada?
I wasn’t thinking I’d go to Nevada every time I need a pack of smokes, I was thinking I’d go there every once in a while and stock up

New york and new jersey are the same. I"M totally against tobacco but I don’t that the price of cigarettes should be that high to get people to stop smoking. thats about 2 gallons of gas right there

I think its a great idea. There will be die hards that continue to smoke, but that is their choice. I haev bad lungs, unfortunatley i was born with it, so i have no respect for the people who knowingly hurt their lungs. I didn’t have a choice. They do.

Talking about Canadian cigarettes, it’s like $15.00 per pack for an average brand. No I don’t smoke and I think the tax should be higher!!!!

I think it will actually improve the economy because less people will smoke. Non-smokers usually have better jobs and get paid more. Everyone will live longer happier lives!

I have another, better proposal.
You know how liquor stores have the "you must be born before this date in the year [...] to purchase tobacco products" — what if they never changed that sign? LOL. The legal age for buying would increase by one each year. Grandfather the current crop of addicts, while not allowing a new generation to get hooked.

Well why dont show them u mean business and stop smoking.I dont live in Cali, but im all for taxes for stupid people who are killing themselves with smoking.What’s sad is they could sell them 20 bucks a pack and people would buy them.I sure don’t see everyone in that state going to Nevada every time they need a pack of smokes! You will get that tax money back when you get emphysema and cancer, no worries…..
