stop smoking
How many people plan to quit smoking because of the new cigarette tax? What’s the connection between cigarette smoking and criminal behavior? Why do most criminals smoke?
Oct 272009

The Left uses the argument that a woman has a right to her own body and therefore should be legally able to abort an unborn child, yet the same people turn around and say cigarette smoking should be banned because it’s bad for one’s health? Shouldn’t the same logic apply? If a person has a right to one’s own body for an abortion, doesn’t one have a right to one’s own body to smoke? Yes, smoking can also interfere with non-smokers, but abortion kills an innocent child.

You have to understand the liberals will not be happy until they can control your every movement,They are do as I see not as I do Group.AMERICANS better get smart and start thinking about the future

Umm I know people from both political parties that are against or for cigarette smoking. Abortion is a personal choice and should be left up to the person. As is smoking. It may be illegal to smoke in some bars/resturants but it is not ILLEGAL to smoke. I do think that it should not be used as a method of birth control but you cannot take that choice away. Comparing cigarette smoking to abortion is stupid. They are two completely different things.

And PS) you’re a male. You have NO say what happens to MY body. Keep your wee in your pants if that’s your stance.

    they’re for pro-choice, not pro-abortion

just like cons, dems want the govt to stay out
of their lives and not decide things for them

so if you don’t believe in getting an abortion, don’t get one *:)

and if you don’t believe in same sex marriage,
don’t marry someone of the same sex

    it’s simple!

why do you want to expand govt and make it bigger and more intrusive?

doesn’t that go against your core conservative beliefs?

I agree with you: Cig Smoking should be legal. So should Heroin use, Cocaine use, and marijuana use. Real freedom means I can do anything I want in the privacy of my own home as long as it does not intrude upon another’s Freedom

People on the left and on the right don’t want cigarette smoking in public because of public health reasons. It also costs individuals and employers more money because of health care costs that increase health insurance premiums. I personally have nothing against smoking but I understand the reasons for concern. Both issues are personal choices but when the activity affects people around you there is cause for restriction. I have no idea what conservatives think we will do if abortion is recriminalized. Our prisons are already bursting at the seams.

No one is "for" abortion. Those who support the right to choose are for just that–he right to choose what’s right for THEM, not for YOU. YOU don’t count or matter in such personal decisions.

Smokers are disgusting people who negatively effect the lives of every other person around them. We don’t care if people kill themselves smoking, but we do care about the quality of life for those who have to endure it.

    Get it? (Probably not.)

    the nanny state conundrum.

make a law allowing killing fetuses by judicial fiat and then make a nanny response by legislation to keep people from harming themselves. they are smart enough to abort by choice, but just stupid enough to have to protect them from self-induced smoke damage.

    yeah! clear as mud. right.

no, because aborting a pregnancy involves one person- the carrier of the fetus. a fetus is not legally recognized as a human being or an ‘innocent child’, so its welfare is irrelevant. smoking on the other hand negatively affects other human beings. smoking is a matter of public heath whereas abortion is a matter between the expectant mother and her doctor.

Actually, I am against cigarettes and tobacco in general because it is 10,000 times more addicting than heroin. I feel sorry for people who are addicted. I know they must feel profound psychological loss when they are unable to smoke every 30 minutes. However, I have never met anyone who was ever addicted to being pregnant.

You can have an abortion if you want to. You can smoke cigarettes if you want to. They are both legal in the United States. This should be your only concern. When life begins and is viable is a debate that will continue for centuries. The supreme court decided the abortion issue a long time ago. It is an issue between a woman and her doctor. It is no one elses business.
