Conservative Smokers: Will you support President Obama by paying his cigarette tax?

cigarette tax Add comments

It is true that the law of supply and demand dictates that a higher price means a lower quantity is demanded, but funding S-CHIP with Federal Cigarette Tax Increases is a Poor Tax Policy. A cigarette tax increase hurts the poor more than virtually any other way of raising money. High Cigarette Taxes Encourage Smuggling and Associated Crime.

It is often said that cigarette taxes should be increased because government needs revenue. Such an argument is possibly the worst used by advocates of higher cigarette taxation. Why not tax coffee or spinach or impose a tax based upon the number of blades of grass in a taxpayer’s yard? Just because the government needs revenue to fund some general spending program that has broad benefits doesn’t mean that an arbitrarily selected group of people should pay the tax. o_O

No… my husband and I are already talking about quitting.

We have both smoked for over 20 years, so…. it’s going to be hard.

But, if it screws Obama out of getting our money, it will be worth it.

    Screw him.

To steal from one group of people and give it to another is a crime. Singling out individuals is discrimination. Over taxing to satisfy government agenda should be against the law. More government questionable activities. Mowing your lawn emits emissions in the air and can be harmful when inhaled. Should we now tax anyone caught mowing the lawn at a 300% tax rate. People that eat garlic and then breath all over me are much more intolerable then smokers. I, believe we should tax garlic eaters. They stink and make me sick when I, have to smell their God Awful breath. Perfumes make me nauseated and effect my sinuses, causing infections and doctors visits. We need to tax these people that wear perfume. Street workers and their jackhammers hurt my ears. We need to tax them. Many dogs stink and I, am allergic o them, making me sick. Tax their owners. Hair spray on women cause and distribute unhealthy odors. Tax them. I, am allergic to Poison ivy. Tax the homeowner that has it on their property. Causing me an allergic reaction. Not washing your hands after a bathroom visit spreads germs, causing illness. Tax them. Scooper’s at the all you can eat buffet spread more germs and make more people sick them smokers. Tax them. Non smokers have more cancer related illness then smokers. Tax non smokers. Damage to the roads cause accidents and hurt people more then smokers. Tax the road workers and take their bonuses back. Candy and sugar causes rotten teeth increasing my dental plan as a result to all the teeth being fixed in America. Tax sugar products. Politicians make me sick to my stomach. Tax them.
