Why should Republicans give Obama credit for saving their lives. They have yet to admit that smoking causes cancer, because the studies that proved the link were produced by "scientists" and "educated people".
Besides, it isn’t just smokers whose lives are saved. Second-hand smoke is just as dangerous as first-hand smoke. The child saved may be your own, even if he/she never smokes.
Funny, I don’t hear the "pro-life" people demonstrating to ban/tax cigarettes in order to save the lives of both born and "unborn" children. I guess the "pro-life" movement isn’t really pro-life, they are merely anti-abortion.
