How affected will I be physically by my 8 cigarette smoking relapse?

cigarette smoking Add comments

I quit smoking about a month and a half ago, but last week I had a bit of a relapse and smoked about 8 cigarettes. Almost immediately my smoking cough and sore throat came back, and I was finding it harder to breathe and smell things. I’m worried about how this relapse will hinder the improvements I’ve made physically in the past month. Rather, will my improved fitness ability return to the status that it was before I quit the first time, a month and a half ago?? Will I have to work just as hard as I did the first time to be able to run a significant distance without becoming drastically out of breath??

The relapse should only cause very transient symptoms. It will not take as long to be able to run because of the month and a half you have had of healing time. Just remember how bad your body felt after smoking the next time temptation comes around.
