Okay, I don’t want to go through a bunch of extra wiring steps to get my cb radio wired into the cars supplied dc power. So can I buy some sort of adapter that lets me plug it into a cigarette lighter outlet?

I plug my radar detector and GPS into my cigarette lighter socket in my 98 Toyota Avalon, but they occasionally don’t get a steady power connection, so I am guessing the socket is loose. How do I tighten up the socket so it’ll feed a steady power supply?

On some cars, the male retainer behind the dash or console has to be held while the outside female receptacle socket is turned clockwise to tighten.

I bought a cigarette lighter and there is a place for it, but i don’t know where to connect the wires to =(
I got a positive wire with the lighter, and there is an extra positive wire coming from the CD player. But is there an earth? And where do you connect it?

the easiest way to do it and the safest for the car is to conect the wires directly to the battery. on the wire for the positive post you put an inline fuse holder for a 15 amp fuse. This way you dont ”break in” to the cars original wiring and make an expensive mistake.
there are 2 wires? the wire for the ”button” that touches the cigarette lighters heater element is the positive wire.

We know that when burned, cigarettes let out countless poisons and carcinigens. Why should I have to breathe in another’s 2nd hand smoke? For instance, when I am driving, I routinely smell cigarette smoke from other people smoking in their cars, even with my windows and vents closed; outside walking I can smell it in the air at times, who knows where it is coming from, obviously though someone is smoking somewhere nearby…etc…I should not have to breathe in these poisons that have been proven to kill individuals who do not use them.

Absolutely. The issues with smoking are plain for everybody to see. The government knows that smoking is horrible, and they know it needs to be abolished, but with the size of the tobacco companies, or economy would go down the tubes.

Tobacco doesn’t help anybody. not only is it killing the person smoking it, it’s messing with all the people around the person smoking it!

It’s a drug. That’s all there is too it. it’s addictive and it kills you. that should be enough to make it illegal.
