I doubt it. They don’t benefit from the diesel exhaust no matter how much it is taxed. Diesel fumes have the most carcinogenic agent known to man and it is spewed out into our air at a constant and consistent rate every hour of the day all across the globe. (no one is doing a thing about it)
The foods we have now are processed foods and we feed the kids all the carcinogens used to make the foods palatable, storeable, and whats used to preserve the foods. We don’t even pay taxes on those to assist in our childrens cancers. Trust me after ten years of eating foods from the shelves of the grocery market you are "poisened". Call it silly if you want but a vast majority of what is in the processed foods will not harm you with one or two meals, even one or two weeks of those meals but … after a decade? Hell the toxins are kept in the body and the body cannot flush them out and the toxins just keep on building in the wee ones well into adulthood and then sometimes in their early thirties to late fifties the toxins attack the body and cancers occur. Our taxes won’t help with that either.
If you want to provide healthcare for the kids so bad then shop your foodstuff that comes only from farms within a hundred miles of your home, town or city. In that they will survive to grow older without fears of cancers.
Never mind the frigging cigarettes my friend. Look to your own backyard for the cause of a vast majority of our cancers.
The rise in cigarette tax for the health of our children.
I’m non-smoker.
Unfortunately, the people who proposed this legislation understand supply and demand about as well as a fish understands trigonometry.
When the cost of cigarettes goes up, people smoke less or quit smoking altogether. Then, the money that was supposed to go to health-care is gone. What do you think will be Congress’s response? Raise taxes on everyone, of course!
This reminds me of another piece of legislation here in Florida. The govt wasn’t making enough money on the toll roads so they decided to raise the price of the tolls. The problem is that now, nobody uses the toll roads because they are too expensive.
When most people stop smoking, how is the non-existent tax money supposed to pay for anything?
This legislation is counter-intuitive and it doesn’t make an ounce of sense.
Now that the gov has stepped in on telling us what we can and cant do with smoking,(for our own good)how long before other things get taxed. The gov may decide that since this is the fattest nation in the world all you lard a55es should pay a tax for those dollar menue items you love so much.Or maybe you drunks who think a twelve pack after work is a good way to wind down. How about taxing that more for your own good.Everyone is quick to jump on the band wagon to take something away from somebody.Till its you they take it away from. You sheep just keep on following the herd ,the wolf will get you soon enough
im talking about the extra taxes on cigarettes i know those other items are already taxed but not to the degree that cigarettes are
For those who think the money raised from this tax is going where the gov tells you its going you probably believe that lottery money is going to education too.health care prices arent rising because of smoking its greedy doctors and corp.that own the hospitals that raise the price
I totally agree……..I smoke and am sick of getting picked on…dam it.lol
And I think that cigarettes IS where it ends. They make way too much money from it,no one can complain because smoking is bad for us smokers….therefore…we are declared to have…no argument. And no one is going to complain.
Actually….is cigarettes and gas…thats where it ends .lol
If they started taxes for say…………CHOCOLATE……..i bet there would be an entire national uprising……lol. So they use the whole cigarettes are baaadd….mmmm kayee thing to take care of the governments money addiction.Thats how they can get away with it.
Alcohol badly needs to be taxed.
I thought that cigarette tax was supposed to insure 10s of Millions of children under the age of 30 ? Why is uninsured higher than it was before the govt tax? Makes no sense!
different fiscal year budgets?
