If people choose a vegan lifestyle, why do some still smoke? When it’s a fact that the cigarette companies test on animals.

I have never met a vegan who smokes cigarettes. Most vegans are very health conscious, and wouldn’t pump poison into themselves. Yes it is a fact that cigarette companies conduct horrible, painful experiments on animals. So for a vegan to smoke, would be very hypocritical.

From the Inside Indiana Business website: “Governor Daniels is proposing to raise the cigarette tax a minimum of 25 cents per pack. The benefits outlined include a drop in smoking rates, discouraging young people from smoking because of the price of cigarettes. Also, the tax revenue would be used to provide health plans to an estimated 120,000 Hoosiers by creating a new $95 million health plan. In Indiana, an estimated $2.4 billion dollars is lost due to lower productivity by smokers and $2 billion is spent on healthcare costs due to smoking each year.”

The Left uses the argument that a woman has a right to her own body and therefore should be legally able to abort an unborn child, yet the same people turn around and say cigarette smoking should be banned because it’s bad for one’s health? Shouldn’t the same logic apply? If a person has a right to one’s own body for an abortion, doesn’t one have a right to one’s own body to smoke? Yes, smoking can also interfere with non-smokers, but abortion kills an innocent child.

The goons and criminals in Congress have once again decided to attack smokers..in the name of the children..of course. The democrats have lost their mandate in my eyes. Where is a libertarian when you need one? cigarette taxes hurt the poor far more than the rich and are regressive and stupid. I wish I hadn’t voted for single democrat ever (at least I didn’t vote for Obama). Bleh. Smokers revolt! In a time of economic depression, why hurt the poor where they hurt the most?
