I’m browsing through a web site trying to purchase a wooden pipe for tobacco, when some of them were called "cigarette smoking Pipes" and some were just titled "Tobacco Smoking Pipes"
Help? any main difference or the same thing?

Cigarette pipes are worthless to the pipe smoker. Mostly they are just cigarette holders bur are often used for drugs. Most of them come out of China or the Russian Federation.

i want that lose leaf feel but not cigarette tobacco i need to know if pipe tobacco is addictive or is it like cigars ive smoked cigars 13yrs i only smoke one once every 3mouths are so but i like to try pipe tobacco

I’ve smoked for more than 30 years. I often walk away from my pipe for a week at a time or more. Smoking a pipe is much like smoking a cigar. In fact I smoke a good cigar now and then too but not nearly as often as the cigars I like cost big time.

Pipes can become ‘addictive’ because of the many hundreds of different blends you want to try. Each can have it’s own flavor and aroma. There’s nothing quite like sitting back with your pipe for a couple of hours gently puffing away. Good blends can take you to places you’ve never been before.

I used to roll my own cigarettes but now that it’s so expensive I switched back to regular smokes. I would like to try using pipe tobacco, as I just saw that some companies cut it more finely and it’s cheap. Anyone know of a brand that would work well if I rolled it?

I am aware that Gambler has repackaged some of their cigarette tobacco as pipe tobacco. They now call it 4 Aces. I recently bought a 6 oz sized bag for just over $6. There is also one called Golden Harvest that is pretty much just cigarette tobacco for about the same price. Stay away from the flavored blends in that brand as you won’t be happy with those. Far too over powering.

If it looks like cigarette tobacco in the bag and it’s not flavored then chances are it’s really just cigarette tobacco. Some old time pipe tobaccos were also meant to be rolled. Velvet, Prince Albert, etc. These are mostly strait burleys and are not heavily flavored. They may have a stronger taste than you are used to.

I’m a freelance writer interested in the rising price of sin taxes? The basic angle is that smoking cigarettes is not that much cheaper than smoking pot in some municipalities.

I can give you a link for the US but not for the countries of the world.

This is a link to a map of the US with the state taxes of each state. It also says how much the federal taxes are on cigarettes. At the bottom, it lists the areas that also have a city tax (for example, NYC residents have a federal tax of $1.01, a state tax of $2.75 and a city tax of $1.50)

http://www.tobaccofreekids.org/research/factsheets/pdf/0222.pdf

These taxes are only for pre-made cigarettes.

This is another great site that lists the tobacco taxes per state. It also includes taxes on loose roll your own tobacco. As you can see, the Federal tax increase last year was a 2,200% increase. The taxes on roll your own are now higher than the retail value of the products.

There is currently a bill proposed in the House that would raise the taxes on pipe tobacco from $2.83 per pound up to $24.78 per pound (again, this would make the taxes higher than the retail value of most of the products).

If you click on "Full Text" you can read the bill. It’s a short read.

I was just wondering if it was the additives that cigarette companies put in the tobacco that made it addictive and bad for your health or if the tobacco plant naturally made these chemicals.

Its the chemicals that they add that really makes them bad. As with premium cigars and pipe tobacco that’s natural tobacco and its better for you.

the pipe kind. Are they worse for your health, smoking them like cigarettes? I’ve noticed little difference.
This family member once bought squash instead of cucumbers for someone.

I roll my cigarettes with pipe tobacco because it’s not heavily taxed like cigarette tobacco. To me it tastes exactly the same as cigarette tobacco and I’m pretty sure it’s no better or worse for your health. As long as you’re rolling with filtered tubes you won’t get that cigar taste and it’s considerably cheaper than cigarette tobacco, but to each is his own and just go with whatever type has the taste/flavor you’re looking for in a cigarette.

besides that the cigarette tobacco is $80 per pound, but pipe tobacco is $25 per pound.

It looks, feels, rolls, tastes and smokes the same; So what’s the difference?

I put this in food & drink, there is no section where this fits.

As far as I know tobacco is tobacco. Except some pipe tobacco’s have the flavoring in with them where they have been soaked like in whiskey Cavendish and all that stuff.

I was just wondering if the cigarette rolling machines can handle pipe tobacco?

It depends upon the pipe tobacco. Some American burley based blends such as Prince Albert are crimp cut and produced for either pipes or RYO cigarettes. Other tobaccos such as cube cut burley, flakes and plugs would be next to impossible to roll much less smoke as a cigarette due to their cut and burning characteristics.

If it’s possible, could you tell me how to pack it?

It’s just that’s its impossible to find pipe tobacco where i live.

Like what drip said, no. Cigarette tobacco is not cut the same as pipe tobacco, and it will not burn correctly. Go online to order pipe tobacco if you can;t find it in your area. Pipe tobacco is much better to smoke anyway then cigarette tobacco.

I been buying cigarette tobacco and filter tubes and roll my own cigarette but I recently bought a bag of pipe tobacco by mistake, its a brand called Vintage (vanilla flavor). I just wonder can i roll with pipe tobacco like cigarette tobacco? They seems a little more moist then cigarette tobacco.

Pipe tobacco is not cut as fine as cigarette tobacco. Just get a pipe to smoke the tobacco in instead. Pipe smoking is better and better for you anyway.
