Alright.
Now here, I am not looking for the, "OH, YOU SHOULD JUST QUIT NOW" sort of stuff.

I enjoy smoking my cigarettes.

Is it dangerous to smoke prior to an adult Tonsillectomy?
What are the chances of having clotting issues?

If it is extremely dangerous, how many days or weeks in advance should I take a break from smoking?

I would recommend giving up cigarettes for 10 days before the surgery. Having tonsils out at as an adult is very much more of a blow to the system than if you were seven years old. There are ways to give up, such as the nicotine patches. My father gave up after having a wad of cigarette paper
lit in front of him, having the flame beaten out and smelling the smoking paper. Disgusting.

He still died of lung cancer eleven years later aged 67.
Having a couple of drinks a day is healthy. Having a few cigarettes a day is not. Most people smoke at least twenty to thirty.

I know its different for everyone. for 14 years my parents smoked in the car with me, with the windows up. and constantly in the house. I smoke cigarettes, too. Ive probably smoked a good 350-400 so far. how many cigarettes until i see bad health problems?

Every one different but I smoked for 25 years, I have asthma that is not controllable. A year ago I quit, my asthma… not very controlled today the doctor say that I need to go to a specialist maybe have COPD or beginning stages of emphysema. Everyone said that when I quit I would feel better, that my lungs would repair themselves, that I wouldn’t cough that black crud up any more, my sense of smeel would improve… Well It’s been more than a year and guess what , my friend, I can smell better, and after 9 months I dont cough that black crud up any more, but all that other stuff I mentioned HA! maybe I quit too late , I’m still on 4 different asthma meds and those dont keep me attack free, I’ve got a dr. appointment in a week to see if my lungs are infact more damaged than I think. OMG I’m soooo scared that there going to tell me that theres some kind of dark spot on my lungs, I’m so worried that I’ve developed a twitch in my eye that acts up really bad when I start to think about the x-rays I’m gonna have. Funny none of that ever came to mind when I did smoke, always thought that "that wont happen to me" well my friend in a week + however long it takes to get my results back I’ll find out, maybe it did happen to me… we’ll see. The best thing I could tell you is that you should quit. be strong, You’ve not smoked that long, the sooner you stop the easier. Luck to you

I’m trying to find out if and/or how cigarette smoke can cling to a person if no one is smoking in your presence (i.e. someone smokes in a room, you enter 2 hours later, you smell like smoke).

I need scientific facts so links to reports or studies would be greatly appreciated. Other possible questions I’d need answered for this report include:

Is it possible that smoke molecules can cling to you if someone smokes several rooms over?

Can the odor from an ashtray cling to a person (unlit cigarettes of course)?

If you’re around a person who smells like smoke, is it scientifically possible for the odor to rub off on you?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Is it possible the smoke smell is something a non-smoker would pick up after walking in the house? The odor may not necessarily be on the clothes but something "in the nose" of the person who smelled the smoke. Any scientific data to back it up?

Thanks
The reports on smoke molecules and how they "cling" to individuals. I have some data on how it sticks to an individual while in the presence of the odor but I need data on the lingering of the molecules/odor.

You can smell like cigarette smoke if you, your clothes, or the furniture you are sitting upon has been exposed to people that smoke.

If someone uses perfume or cologne and rubs up against you, some of that scent will linger on you. It’s gotten many a man in trouble. Also, I’m sure there are people out there who can tell you they work with people who they can smell coming way before they see them. It’s the same with cigarette smoke.

Ask a smoker what happens to the clothes they haven’t worn in awhile in their closet. They turn yellow wherever they’ve been exposed to the air.

I know from personal experience when I was a smoker that even before opening the door on my house I could smell the cigarette smoke lingering around the outside of the house. After I no longer smoked, I could smell that the house and car actually reeked of cigarette smoke.

If you are doing a report on whether or not smoking should be allowed in enclosed public places, I don’t think it should be. I respect your right to smoke, (I used to get irate at people who took the position I now take), but your right to smoke ends when I have to re-breathe the air you are polluting.

ok, so i been smoking regular cigarettes for three months now. i mean its good and all, but i just bought a pack of menthol cigarettes. they taste great. theyre not as strong as regular cigarettes. im really growing a craving to them. anyways, wats the difference between menthol cigarettes and regular cigarettes? are they easier to smoke? serious answers please. none of that "dont smoke" or "cancer" BS. i kno the risks of smoking. i just want a serious straightforward answer. thank you very much.

The only difference is menthol cigarettes have a major non-tobacco additive that make them minty tasting. (from http://incompetech.com/gallimaufry/cigguide.html)

I recommend Camel Crush because if you’re feeling menthol, you just crush the capsule within the filter to get that taste; if you don’t want that minty taste, you don’t crush the capsule. It’s a 2 in1!
