ive suggested to my brother that it would be cheaper to roll his own cigarettes, but he only likes the taste of Marlboro Reds. please let me know your experiences with the different brands.

Many former Marlboro smokers like Vengeur, which is made by D&R. This is a forum on RYO cigarettes. This page has reviews of Vengeur.

If you click in the upper left corner where it says "Board Index" it will lead you to the main page which has many different subjects pertaining to rolling your own. You’ll find reviews on different tobaccos, machines, tubes and retailers.

This is the cheapest place that I’ve found that carries Vengeur:

I use this company and their service is great.

I was just wondering if the cigarette rolling machines can handle pipe tobacco?

It depends upon the pipe tobacco. Some American burley based blends such as Prince Albert are crimp cut and produced for either pipes or RYO cigarettes. Other tobaccos such as cube cut burley, flakes and plugs would be next to impossible to roll much less smoke as a cigarette due to their cut and burning characteristics.
