I’m browsing through a web site trying to purchase a wooden pipe for tobacco, when some of them were called "cigarette smoking Pipes" and some were just titled "Tobacco Smoking Pipes"
Help? any main difference or the same thing?

Cigarette pipes are worthless to the pipe smoker. Mostly they are just cigarette holders bur are often used for drugs. Most of them come out of China or the Russian Federation.

I certainly understand why cigarette smoking is taboo, even beyond its health hazards. But given that marijuana smoking is much more dangerous than cigarette smoking (smoking one joint is equivalent to smoking five cigarettes, in the last report I read), why is it considered fashionable and cool?

Cigarette smoking was only considered cool before they knew what horrible effects it had. As for pot, it is NOWHERE near as harmful as cigarettes for you. Cigarette related illness causes tens of thousands of deaths a year, while marijuana causes almost none. Anyone who thinks that you can’t live while smoking pot is a narrow minded idiot, unable to admit that marijuana should be legalized, just like those idiots that run this country. There are no cases of marijuana overdoses EVER, while thousands die from alcohol poisoning and drunken driving every year. I maintain a 3.8 GPA and am working towards a Masters in education, so don’t say that it "rots your brain." Marijuana should be legalized, and tobacco should be banned. Every country that has decriminalized marijuana has lower usage rates among its people than the US and the tens of millions of dollars that we spend on the "drug war" could be used to enhancing education and helping the homeless. Our whole country is screwed up and I feel bad for those of you who don’t see that.

It’s almost $8 a pack here…who can afford that?

This tax increase is ridiculous. I’m glad I’ve stopped smoking tobacco, there’s no way there going to suck more money from me.

I’ve started smoking Electronic cigarettes a month ago and I’ll never turn back. I think everyone should stop giving into the government and turn to e-cigs. They are so much better they are healthier for you, there’s no smoke, no odor, and they cost me $3 a pack. Heck I even smoke them on airplanes. http:ecigarets.com

Paying $8 for a pack is just craziness. You should think twice before dishing out that much for a pack of smokes.

Both are quite harmful.
Smoking a cigarette involves the smoking of the paper wrapped around it also along with the tobacco, which contains more harmful substances to the body than the simple tobacco itself!
So it is ideal to give up all types of smoking!!

Does it support medical care, etc?
I could really use some links to websites explaining this, as well as links to sites with some sort of an opinion paper on what we could place this tax on instead, or about how we could eliminate it compleatly if we were to ban smoking nationwide.
I’m doing a persuasive essay for school in which I am persuading the people in my class to support a nationwide smoking ban.

It depends. Taxes on cigarette sales are collected by the federal and state governments and these taxes go into the governments’ general funds. They are used to pay for everything the government spends money on. In recent decades, whenever an increase to the existing taxes on tobacco has been passed, it has always passed under the argument that smoking causes greater health costs, so the "extra" tax money is supposed to be used to fund these costs, plus programs/advertising to encourage/assist quitting.

If you look at it, it is like a Catch 22. They raise taxes on tobacco to cover additional costs that tobacco causes and to try to get people to quit. But if people quit, then tax revenues from tobacco would go down. The government can’t afford to have these tax revenues disappear, so they will need to raise these taxes again to ensure that their tax revenues from tobacco doesn’t go down. In a way, you could say that the last thing the government would want would be for everyone to just quit smoking one day.

Besides, growing tobacco is a huge part of the economy for many southern states. You won’t see a general ban on smoking (or see tobacco being outlawed), because you would go up against not just the tobacco companies and their lobbyists, but the senators and congressmen from these southern states that rely heavily on tobacco as a part of their economy. You wouldn’t want to be the senator that has to go before their constituents and say that the people that voted him into office is now out of work and on unemployment and is now going to lose their homes to foreclosure because he (or she) voted to outlaw tobacco.

for someone that knows what a joint looks like they could tell by the way the tip of the joint is and the way the tip of the cigarette is usually the joints ashes fall right away and the cigarettes ashes stay there for a little longer
