I've heard of it but I can't vouch for it's effectiveness. You're better off with plain vinegar. Pour it on the sting to neutalize the venom and then very gently, using the edge of a credit card or driver's license, scrape the stinger out of the wound. Clean the sting with soap and water and apply a clean bandage. There may be some swelling but this is common. If you experience a lot of swelling (more than the size of a ping pong ball) or any difficulty in breathing, call 911 immediately as you could be experiencing a life threatening reaction.

I grew up on a farm and we raised tobacco. Yes it does work. The wet tobacco helps draw out the poison from the sting.

Nope. Just vinegar or mud or baking soda/water poultice. That one works the best... baking soda/water.
