What would replace the cigarette tax revenue if no cigarettes were sold?

cigarette tax Add comments

They are already taxing alcohol and are thinking of taxing sodas because they think sodas cause obesity. They probably have not checked the sugar content of fruit juices and carbohydrates.
If they were really doing this for health reasons fruit juices, cereals, white bread, pizza etc all would be banned.

Marijuana tax revenue.

It’s sold for a 505% profit on the streets in comparison to the price of production; if an equal profit were collected in tax revenue, that’s $7 billion straight up

Things like cigarettes get taxed as a means of discouraging behavior. Certain social groups detest the thought that anyone would smoke, even of their own free will. While their ultimate goal is to get it banned, they go slowly by demonizing the behavior and making it as inconvenient as possible to engage in the behavior.

So if there were no cigarettes they’d move on to something else they disagree with, probably gas for environmental reasons or alcohol because they think no one has any self control.
